Have Lab Work Drawn

At Least 1 week prior to first appointment, you need to have blood work done. Please visit our main office at 2400 East Avalon Ave, Suite E Muscle Shoals, AL 35661. Our staff will direct you to our on-site lab.

  • If you do not have your labs drawn prior to your initial weight loss visit, you may be asked to reschedule as they are very important to your treatment plan.

Plan for Individualized Treatment

Plan for your initial visit to take longer than a typical doctor’s visit. Dr. Parker will be getting to know you and creating an individualized treatment plan, and this takes time.

Have Body Composition Analyzed

If your first appointment is not at the Tuscumbia office, please stop by at any time prior to your first appointment to have your body composition analyzed.

If you are unable to make your scheduled new patient appointment, please call at least 48 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule. We have a significant volume of patients who are waiting to get appointments, and we need to keep all available slots open.

If you are interested in becoming a primary care patient in addition to weight loss, Dr. Parker has to approve all primary care requests.

Dr. Parker reviews all primary care patient requests typically within three business days. Our staff will call to make your appointment.

We are a medical weight loss practice and Dr. Parker is board certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine. We treat obesity as a medical condition and bill your insurance. There are hundreds of associated conditions. We accept all major commercial insurance, Medicare/Medicare Advantage Plans, and Tricare.

If you do not have insurance, or if you have Medicaid, our cash price is as follows:

Dr. Parker is a weight loss specialist, and Parker Medical Weight Loss is a non-surgical medical weight loss clinic. Dr. Parker is board certified in obesity medicine. He creates an individualized treatment plan for every single patient using comprehensive history taking and labs. Every patient’s treatment plan varies. It may involve adjusting current medications, using new weight loss medications, and prescribing diet and lifestyle modifications. These are just a few examples. Part of the Parker Medical Weight Loss difference is Dr. Parker’s ability to customize treatment plans to best fit the needs of the patient.

We bill your insurance for associated problems such as diabetes, hypertension, PCOS, etc. There are hundreds of conditions we can bill for. This is a common practice in academic centers.

We are a medical/non-surgical weight loss practice. Dr. Parker treats obesity as a medical condition. Unlike “diet pill clinics” our goal is to treat your weight in the context of associated medical conditions.

If you do not have insurance, the cash price is $250.00 for first visit. It is $65.00 for each follow up visit (at least monthly). You will be responsible for any additional cost for labs outside cost of visit.

We accept all major commercial insurances, Tricare, and Medicare (including Medicare Advantage Plans).
We are not a typical “weight loss clinic” that only prescribe diet pills. Dr. Parker uses multiple medications to treat unhealthy weight.
Dr. Parker’s Medicaid panel is currently full. However, if your current doctor suggests it, he or she may refer you to Dr. Parker. Dr. Parker will see you as a consult to develop a plan.

You may keep your current primary care physician and see Dr. Parker exclusively for weight loss.
Not only is the program safe for weight loss, but the goal is to improve medical problems associated with obesity such as: arthritis, diabetes and insulin resistance, hypertension, sleep apnea, cholesterol problems, GERD, chronic swelling/edema, and chronic fatigue.
Absolutely. We are a non-surgical practice but manage pre-op and post-op metabolic surgery patients. If you are not losing weight or gaining weight back after surgery, we can help you.
